The Coordinator will oversee the use and maintenance of the College Observatory and Planetarium so that they can be appropriately utilised by the Physics and Astronomy Department and the wider Oberlin community. The position will have three areas of responsibility: academic, administrative and public outreach, with additional duties assigned by the Physics and Astronomy Department Chair or designee. Among these: assist with observatory and planetarium use, observational exercises in advanced astronomy and physics courses, maintain communication tools including webpage, conduct outreach to community and public schools including field trips and special programs. The requirements are a Bachelor's degree in physics or a related field. Experience with telescopes and planetarium instruments is a necessity. It is highly desirable that the person have experience teaching astronomy to a wide age range, but college students are particularly important. An advanced coursework or practical teaching work in physics or astronomy is a plus. -- For details visit the website below.
