The astronomy supervisor will be responsible for the oversight of the development, presentation, and training in the astronomical and planetarium based laboratories. The essential functions include operation and administration of lab, oversee equipment maintenance, and preparation of laboratory setups; develop and implement new experiments and instructional lab planetarium activities; support lab section teaching activities and instruct/prepare teaching assistants, as required; collaborate with the Planetarium Director in public outreach and functions of the planetarium; maintain involvement in professional activities, including visits to McDonald Observatory, workshops, and related activities. The candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree (preferably in Astronomy), astronomy laboratory experience, and computer programming competency.
