The President will be responsible for leading, directing and managing the planetarium in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Society. He or she will engage in envisioning the future, setting the strategic direction of the activities and initiatives, and leading the efforts to complete the acquisition of philanthropic and funding resources necessary to construct the new planetarium facility on the top of the Minneapolis Central Library. The President is responsible for strategic leadership with both internal and external audiences. Specific responsibilities include that the Planetarium has a clear mission; the finalizing a 5-year strategic plan with the board; fundraising, design, construction, and all operational facets; the creation of a broad individual giving program, planned giving campaign, and expanded grant writing activity; keeping the Board of Directors fully informed on the condition of the Planetarium so that the Board can carry out its governance function; serving as the chief spokesperson for the Planetarium, assuring that the agency and its mission are properly presented to its various publics.
