RSA Cosmos SN-88 Planetarium ProjectorThe model SN88 has two distinct hemispheres for the projection of the fixed stars. The star ball itself has a diameter of 40, 70, or 100 cm. Depending on the dome size, it can be used in horizontal or tilted domes between 10 and 22 m. It projects from 2500 to 6000 stars with their correct magnitude and colour. The machine is driven along 3 axes, allowing all simulations as observed from the surface of any heavenly body of the solar system: diurnal motion, motion in longitude and latitude, annual motions, precession etc. Displayed objects are the Milky Way, 10 Messiers, the Magellanic Clouds, constellations of the zodiac and other ones of special interest. Grids and the cardical points of seasonal change are also implemented. The system is fitted with 8 projectors for planets on an external platform: the five naked-eye planets, sun and moon, plus a laser pointer for a free adjustment. The SN88 is controlled by the "DomeManager" software. This supervisory software controls all the RSA Cosmos systems (whether optomechanical or digital) as well as all integrated audio-visual equipment like video beamer or lightning system.
