The Cosmorama was developed by the East German department in Jena for large domes in the early 1980ies. It has been one of the first computer controlled intruments and provided a high efficiency in its time. As such it is able to record and save a show for multiple replays. It gives a brilliant reproduction of the starry sky with more than 9000 stars. The apparatus can be lifted in a downward tray utilising a hydraulic unit. The first instrument was installed in the Space and Science Center in Edmonton, Canada, in 1984.
