Universarium-IXThe latest generation of Zeiss projectors for large facilities is the Universarium-IX. It is conceived for planetaria with a diameter between 18 and 30 meters, lager domes are possible, though. As in the previous types, it is equipped with fibre optics for brilliant images. The star ball contains two light sources and shows 9100 stars in total. Effects like scintillation, eclipses, variable stars, reddish sun at the horizon among others are also inherited. Various grids are also standard: meridian, ecliptical and equatorial coordinates as well as celestial poles. The adjustable time frame ranges from -10.000 BC to +10.000 AD, and the precision is automatically implied. The Milky Way is sharper than before, though, it is a photographical image not embraced by the fibres. The weight of the star ball is 1500 kg, the platform for planets 830 kg. The first device was delivered to the Hayden Planetarium in New York.
